It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Ryder Allen Whitcomb, who left us too soon. Ryder was born on November 7, 2017, in Hastings, NE to his loving parents, Blake Whitcomb and Caitlin Harmon. He was a shining light in this world, full of energy, laughter, and a love for life that was contagious to everyone around him. Ryder was only in second grade at Adams Central Elementary School, but in his short years, he made an unforgettable impact on his family, friends, and everyone lucky enough to know him.

Ryder had a zest for life that was unmatched. He approached each day with enthusiasm, his smile as wide as the world was open to him. Whether he was running around with endless energy, playing with his dog, Cash, or diving into one of his many adventures in the world of Pokémon, Ryder's excitement and curiosity never seemed to tire. He was a kid who found joy in the little things—like devouring a bag of Takis or watching his favorite movies on repeat.

His love for Pokémon was boundless. Whether it was trading cards or catching the latest creatures, Ryder had an uncanny knowledge of every character and their abilities. His eyes would light up when he talked about his favorite Pokémon, and he could spend hours in his own world of battles and friendships with his animated companions.

Ryder’s love wasn’t limited to just his interests; it extended to his family, too. He was the pride and joy of his mother, Caitlin, and father, Blake, who cherished him more than words can express. Ryder had the unique gift of bringing two sides of the family together, as his mom hailed from California and his dad from Nebraska. No matter where he was, Ryder had the ability to make both places feel like home with his laughter and love.

He was a boy who radiated warmth and love. Ryder’s light-heartedness, sense of humor, and infectious laughter will be missed more than we can say. His presence could brighten any room, and his innocence reminded us of the simple joys of life. Though his time with us was far too short, the memories he leaves behind will last a lifetime.

Ryder is survived by his loving parents, Blake Whitcomb and Caitlin Harmon; stepmother, Keeley Whitcomb; brother, Asher Whitcomb; aunt, Stacy Harmon; aunt, Deanna Harmon; uncle, Jordan Whitcomb; nana, Cheryl Gardner; grandma, Kellie Wescott; grandpa, Scott Whitcomb; and grandma, Carrie Whitcomb. He is also survived by countless extended family and friends who will carry his memory in their hearts forever.

While Ryder may no longer be physically with us, his spirit—his infectious joy, his unbridled energy, and his never-ending love—will continue to live on in every corner of our lives. We are better for having known him, and we will carry the brightness of his spirit with us always.
