Sandra (Sandy) Elaine Clark, 81, of Hastings, Nebraska, died peacefully at her home on June 11, 2026, after a long battle with multiple myeloma.
Sandy was born on November 11, 1944, in Arkansas City, Kansas, to Brady and Lurlene Boggess. Because her father served in the Air Force, she spent her childhood living in many different cities. These experiences gave her a lifelong love of travel, learning, and connecting with others.
Sandy graduated from Lincoln High School in Lincoln, Nebraska, and earned an associate's degree at Pratt Community College in Pratt, Kansas. Early in her career, she worked in health care, and later in life, she retired from the Department of Social and Rehabilitation Services in Greensburg, Kansas.
Sandy married Manford Clark on November 19, 1976, and together they owned and operated Clark's Machine Shop in Haviland, Kansas, for many years. Sandy also managed the Haviland Cafe and Motel. Her love of cooking made running a café especially meaningful to her because she cherished every opportunity to cook for family and friends, never passing up a chance to express her love through food.
Sandy was also actively involved in volunteer work. Among her volunteer activities were mission trips with the Friends Disaster Team, an outreach of the Friends Churches that prioritizes assisting the elderly, uninsured, and low-income individuals after a disaster hits. One trip led her to Joplin, Missouri, after a devastating tornado, and another led her to Mexico City. Sandy was instrumental in bringing the Meals on Wheels program to Haviland to help seniors have easy access to nutritious food. Most recently, she volunteered at United Harvest in Hastings. These experiences reflected her deep faith and her desire to serve others both near and far.
Sandy had a remarkable gift for creating meaningful and lasting friendships wherever life took her. She treasured the relationships she built over the years, including close bonds with her cousins. However, Sandy’s greatest joy was her family. She delighted in watching her children and grandchildren grow and thrive, and she was always their biggest supporter. Her generosity, humor, and quick wit brought joy to every family gathering and created countless treasured memories. Though she will be deeply missed, the love she shared and the memories she created will remain a lasting blessing to all who knew and loved her.
Sandy is survived by her children: Larry Knaub (Kim) of Hastings, Nebraska, Tammy Hazelton (Kris) of Kansas City, Missouri, Teresa Shaffer (Brent) of Warsaw, Missouri; her grandchildren: Kahsi Velasquez (Tommy), Bryce Knaub (Sara), Tyler Hazelton, Maurissa Glick (Tom), Alexis Gaisford (Cameron), Idallis Shaffer, and her greatgrandchildren: Knox Lawson, Olive Velasquez, Ozzy Velasquez, Braxton Knaub, Breckyn Knaub, Bradley Glick, Wilder Glick, Murphy Glick, Baker Gaisford, Beckham Gaisford.
Sandy was preceded in death by her husband, Manford Clark, her parents, Brady and Lurlene Boggess, her sister, Shelia Buckingham, and a great-grandchild, Roman Glick.
Sandy’s wishes were for cremation. There will be a private memorial by the immediate family at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be sent to the Veterans Community Project.
