Sharon K. "Kay" Fisher

Hastings resident Sharon K. “Kay” Fisher, 82, passed away Thursday, July 10, 2025, at Sutton Community Home, Sutton, NE.

Rosary will be 10 a.m. and Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 19, at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Hastings with Father Greg Pawloski and Deacon John Willmes officiating. Burial will be at Parkview Cemetery in Hastings. Visitation will be 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. Friday, July 18, at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to the Sutton Community Home or St. Michael’s Catholic Church. The service will be live-streamed on Livingston Butler Volland Funeral Home’s website. Kay was born on December 8, 1942, in Hastings, NE, to Elmer and Amelia (Beiriger) Willmes. She graduated from Kenesaw High School in 1960 and spent much of her life in the Hastings area.

Throughout her life, Kay worked in a variety of roles, including at Mode O’Dey and the Barrel Bar, and she also delivered newspapers—work she did with dedication and heart. Kay was a seamstress and made drapes. She was a proud member of the Eagles Club and formed many friendships through her involvement there.

Kay had a love for simple pleasures, and one of her favorite pastimes was playing Bingo. She enjoyed the game not just for the fun, but for the community and camaraderie it brought her. Kay’s warm presence and down-to-earth spirit will be missed by all who knew her. She enjoyed spending time with grandkids and great-grandkids.

Kay was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Volon “Vonnie” Meyer.
