Shirley M. Loskill

Hastings resident Shirley M. Loskill, 83, passed away Friday, September 29, 2023, at her home.    

Rosary will be at 10 a.m. and Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, October 4, at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Hastings with Father Jeremy Hazuka officiating. Burial will be at Parkview Cemetery in Hastings. Visitation will be 1-7 p.m. Tuesday, October 3, at the funeral home, and one hour before the service at the church. Memorials may be given to St. Michael’s Elementary Nature Playground Project. The service will be live-streamed on Livingston Butler Volland Funeral Home’s website. Shirley was born June 25, 1940, in Minden, NE to Charles Jr. and Dora (Ibsen) Thompson. She graduated from Minden High School and Hastings Beauty Academy. Shirley married Richard R. Loskill on February 26, 1962, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Roseland; he preceded her in death on December 8, 2007.

Shirley was a hairstylist in Roseland for 11 years and then worked at Regis in Hastings for 24 years before retiring. They moved from Roseland to Hastings in 1985. She was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church and Altar Society.

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Richard R. Loskill; daughter, Donna Hawkinson; sisters and brothers-in-law, Janice & Gene Johnson and Jeanette & Andy Paulsen; and brother and sister-in-law, Gene & Carolyn Thompson.
