Shirley Irene (Siemoneit) Maul

Hastings resident Shirley Irene (Siemoneit) Maul, 67, passed away Thursday, May 18, 2023, at Mary Lanning Healthcare, Hastings, NE.    

Memorial Services will be 10 a.m. Friday, May 26, at Butler Volland Chapel in Hastings with Rev. Greg Allen-Pickett officiating. Burial will be at Parkview Cemetery in Hastings. Visitation will be 9 a.m. – 7 p.m. with family present 5-7 p.m. Thursday, May 25, and one hour before the service at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to the family for a memorial to be established at a later date. The service will be live-streamed on Livingston Butler Volland Funeral Home’s website. Shirley was born March 17, 1956, in York, NE to Ervin and Betty Lou (Modlin) Siemoneit. She graduated from Hastings Senior High School in 1974. Shirley married Ron Maul on August 21, 1976, at Peace Lutheran Church in Hastings.

Shirley was an office manager at Principal Financial Group in Hastings. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church. Shirley was involved in 4-H and received many ribbons for baking. She played piano and rode her bike around Boyce Street with Timmy, her pet monkey, on her shoulder. Shirley made scratch chocolate cake every other week for her family. She loved playing girls’ softball.

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, Ervin and Betty Lou Siemoneit and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Chuck and Elaine Maul.
