Steve was born on September 7, 1945, to Raymond and Irma (Atkinson) Kissinger at Mary Lanning Hospital, Hastings, NE. He was baptized at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Glenvil in 1950 and confirmed in 1960. He grew up on the farm and attended Glenvil High School, graduating in 1963. He attended UNL studying agriculture then returned to work at R Lazy K, the family farm at Glenvil, NE. Steve was first a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Glenvil then became a member of First St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Hastings.

Steve met his future wife, Karen Lautenschlager of Doniphan thru her brother Lynn, and they were married at Christ Lutheran Church at Prosser, NE on July 16, 1967. They celebrated their 58th anniversary just a few days before Steve’s unexpected death. They lived on the family farm and worked with his father Raymond, brother Craig, son Kevin, and nephews Brian and Jerald. They raise corn and cattle.

To this marriage was born Karla Ann (Kissinger) Harms and Kevin Stephen Kissinger.

Steve liked to spend time with family and friends. Steve and Karen visited Maui, HI many times and spent several winters there until they moved closer to home in The Villages, FL for much of the year, still calling Nebraska home where all the family lives.

Steve enjoyed classic cars and car shows. He owned several ‘67 GTOs and a ‘33 Ford Coupe. They met many people and treasured the memories of their Maui friends, new Florida friends, and friends at car shows.
