Theodore A. Hermann

Hastings resident Theodore “Ted” Allen Hermann, 88, passed away Saturday, January 24, 2026, at Harvard Rest Haven in Harvard, Nebraska. Funeral Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, January 30, at Faith Lutheran Church in Hastings with Pastor Paul Dunbar officiating. Burial will be at Concordia Cemetery in Juniata, NE, at 1:30 P.M. Viewing will be 1-7 p.m. Thursday, January 29, at Livingston Butler Volland Funeral Home, with the family present from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. and 1 hour before the service at the church. Memorials may be given to the family for a memorial to be established at a later date. The service will be live-streamed on Livingston Butler Volland Funeral Home’s website. Ted was born February 18, 1937, in Hastings, NE, to Gustav and Augusta (Berndt) Hermann. He was baptized on March 7, 1937, and confirmed on May 27, 1951, at Christ Lutheran Church, Juniata, NE. He married Carolina ‘Jean’ (Duborko) on June 18, 1959, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in New Plymouth, Idaho.

Ted graduated from Hastings High School in 1955 with Tom Osborne. Upon graduation, he enlisted in the NE Army National Guard/Infantry as a Construction Mechanic Operator. Ted raised his family on the Hermann farm outside of Juniata, NE. He farmed until 1985. He then worked at the Chief Ethanol Fuel and then transferred to the Hastings Utility Power Plant until retirement. Ted never met a stranger and always had a joke.

Ted was an active member of Christ Lutheran Church, serving on many boards and in different leadership positions. He was a member of the Lutheran Laymen’s League. When Ted and Jean moved to Hastings, they transferred their membership to Faith Lutheran Church in Hastings, NE.

Ted is preceded in death by his parents, brothers and sisters, his wife, Jean, daughter-in-law, Teri Hermann; and multiple grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
