Hastings resident Vincent W. Ostdiek, 86, passed away Friday, January 30, 2015 at Perkins Pavilion Good Samaritan Society - Hastings Village, Hastings.
Rosary will be Monday, February 2, 2015; 7:30 P.M. at Butler Volland Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, 10:30 A.M. at St. Michael's Catholic Church with Father Michael Houlihan officiating. Burial with military rites by Hastings Veterans Organizations will be in Parkview Cemetery. Booking signing will be Monday; 1:00 P.M. until the rosary at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday. Memorials may be given to the Hastings Catholic Schools

Vincent W. Ostdiek was born June 30, 1928 in Lawrence, Nebraska to Lawrence & Emma (Hoelting) Ostdiek. Vince attended St. Stephen's Catholic School. He served in the United States Army from 1951 - 1953.Vince married Evelyn J. Kitten on May 22, 1962 at St. Stephen's Catholic Church in Lawrence. Vince spent many years farming and raising his eight children. He ran a dairy farm and raised cattle on the family farm south of Lawrence. He retired from farming in 1994 and moved to Hastings where he worked for Hastings Public Schools part-time. He also volunteered for Mary Lanning Hospital and Catholic Social Services. He was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church, 3rd Degree Knights of Columbus Pius XII Council #1123, 4th Degree Knights of Columbus Pius XII Assembly #608 all of Hastings, and American Legion of Lawrence. Vincent was a loving husband, father and grandfather. His devotion to his family and his faith was evident to all who knew him.
Vincent W. Ostdiek was preceded in death by his parents; son, Timothy Ostdiek; brother, Bernard Ostdiek; sisters, Agnes Ostdiek and Viola Pavelka.
