Vincent Ostdiek

Hastings resident Vincent W. Ostdiek, 86, passed away Friday, January 30, 2015 at Perkins Pavilion Good Samaritan Society - Hastings Village, Hastings.

Rosary will be Monday, February 2, 2015; 7:30 P.M. at Butler Volland Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, 10:30 A.M. at St. Michael's Catholic Church with Father Michael Houlihan officiating. Burial with military rites by Hastings Veterans Organizations will be in Parkview Cemetery. Booking signing will be Monday; 1:00 P.M. until the rosary at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday. Memorials may be given to the Hastings Catholic Schools .

Vincent W. Ostdiek was born June 30, 1928 in Lawrence, Nebraska to Lawrence & Emma (Hoelting) Ostdiek. Vince attended St. Stephen's Catholic School. He served in the United States Army from 1951 - 1953.Vince married Evelyn J. Kitten on May 22, 1962 at St. Stephen's Catholic Church in Lawrence. Vince spent many years farming and raising his eight children. He ran a dairy farm and raised cattle on the family farm south of Lawrence. He retired from farming in 1994 and moved to Hastings where he worked for Hastings Public Schools part-time. He also volunteered for Mary Lanning Hospital and Catholic Social Services. He was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church, 3rd Degree Knights of Columbus Pius XII Council #1123, 4th Degree Knights of Columbus Pius XII Assembly #608 all of Hastings, and American Legion of Lawrence. Vincent was a loving husband, father and grandfather. His devotion to his family and his faith was evident to all who knew him.

Vincent W. Ostdiek was preceded in death by his parents; son, Timothy Ostdiek; brother, Bernard Ostdiek; sisters, Agnes Ostdiek and Viola Pavelka.
