Woodrow Stinnette

Hastings resident, Woodrow "Bill" K. Stinnette, 98, passed away Saturday, October 15, 2016 at Providence Place, Hastings, Nebraska, where he had received loving care for the past four months.

Private Graveside service will be held at a later date. There will be no viewing or visitation. Memorials may be given to Heartland Pet Connection.

Bill was born July 28, 1918, to Sam and Eva (Christner) Stinnette at Wauneta, NE. He grew up in the Wauneta area and graduated from Wauneta Public Schools in 1936. He married G. Arlene Scott January 22, 1942. He served in World War II in the U.S. Army 29th Infantry Division Signal Corp. (8-28-1942 to 10-13-1945) He landed on Omaha Beach about 8 hours after the initial assault. He fought in 6 major battles including the Battle of the Bulge. He operated radio intercept equipment in England, France, Belgium, and Germany with the 92nd Signal Battalion. He received the Good Conduct Medal and Bronze Arrowhead for invasion. He served for 33 months.

Bill was a gifted carpenter and remodeled many kitchens in the Hastings area and made beautiful pieces of furniture for his family.

Bill enjoyed his home and gardening, and especially reading, hunting, fishing, and spending time with the kids and grand kids at Harlan County Lake for the last 50 years.

Bill was preceded in death by his wife of 69 years, Arlene; by his parents; one brother; one half-brother; one sister; and son-in-law, Johnny Reiners.

Bill is survived by Judy Reiners, daughter of Juniata, NE; Son and daughter-in-law, Randy and Jean Stinnette of Inland; granddaughter and husband, Vonda and Bryan Behrens of Norwich, KS; Grandson and wife, Jason and Debra Reiners of Juniata, NE; and Grandson and wife, Joshua and Beth Reiners of Hastings, NE; great-grandchildren; Daniel of Lincoln, NE; Anna of Norwich, KS; Meagan Reiners of Lincoln, NE; Elisha and Jonathon Reiners of Juniata, NE; and Caleb, Kaitlyn, and Sydney Reiners of Hastings, NE. Also, step-grandchildren; Michael Jones of Kearney, NE and James Jones of Hastings, NE; 3 Nieces; 1 Nephew, and longtime friends; Lucille McBride and Clara Beth Lahr.
