Betty Thomas

Doniphan resident Betty Ann Thomas, passed away on April 20, 2019, at Blue Hill Care Center in Blue Hill, NE at the age of 74.

A Celebration of Life will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, May 16, at Butler Volland Chapel in Hastings, NE with Chaplain Jay Towell officiating. There will be no burial after. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the family for an exterior bench or swing to be placed at Blue Hill Care Center for the residents, in memory of Betty. There will be no viewing or visitation.

Betty was born August 1, 1944, in Wood River, NE to Wayne & Blanche (Pickerell) Binfield. She graduated from Scottsbluff High School and attended Hastings College. Betty married Glen Thomas on October 9, 1965; he preceded her in death on February 9, 2014.

Betty was an avid seamstress, quilter, and she loved crocheting. She liked nothing better than teaching people how to quilt. Betty also liked to play golf, and she and Glenn were members of the Wood River Country Club for many years. Betty loved spending time with her grandchildren, playing card games and board games with them.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Wayne and Blanche (Pickerell) Binfield; husband, Glenn W. Thomas; two siblings, Constance L. (Binfield) Budd and Gerald D. Binfield; and three brothers-in-law, Leroy Budd of Wood River, Marvin Thomas of Chapman, and Orville Thomas of Kalispell, MT.

Betty is survived by her two children and their spouses: son, Jon M. Thomas and daughter-in-law Michelle Thomas of Hastings; daughter, Lori A. (Thomas) Wyatt and son-in-law Ron Wyatt of Weatherford, TX; brother, Richard Binfield and his wife Catherine Binfield of Aurora; five grandchildren, Cameron S. Thomas, Shayne M. Wyatt, Caitlyn M. (Wyatt) Moore, Austin W. Wyatt, and Kirk A. Thomas; one great-grandson: Paxton D. Dack; and three sisters-in-law, Barbara Binfield of Grand Island, Eunice Thomas of Chapman, and Jolene Thomas of Kalispell, MT.
